Frequently Asked Questions
Aligners FAQ
What are clear aligners?
Clear aligners are dental trays made of transparent, custom-fitted polyurethane or plastic. They are used to gradually shift crooked teeth (malocclusions) into alignment. Unlike traditional braces with metal brackets and wires, clear aligners are barely visible when worn, allowing you to straighten your teeth discreetly.
How is OneSmile different from other aligner brands?
OneSmile aligners are made from the highest quality materials, produced using state-of-the-art German manufacturing technology. OneSmile is the only Halal certified orthodontic clear aligner system available in the market. All treatment plans are developed by our Specialist Orthodontist team with over 500,000 clear aligner cases planned to date. OneSmile cases include Dental Monitoring remote AI monitoring* to provide 24/7 monitoring by OneSmile Partners no matter where their patients are. The OneSmile Solution comes complete with all consumables, eg. Clear aligners set, 1 x set of retainers, aligner/retainer case, aligner spray cleaner, seater chewies, aligner removal tool, Dental Monitoring Scan Box Pro*, recycling bag.
* Excludes OneSmile Express options
What materials are OneSmile aligners made from?
Our aligners are made with advanced PET-G & PU materials which reduce treatment period by 30-60% over traditional braces. They are safe for patients’ mouth, teeth, gums.
What teeth straightening issues (malocclusions) can be treated with the OneSmile Solution?
The OneSmile Solution is clinically proven to treat cases from minor teeth straightening to moderate and severe malocclusions.
- Deep Bite: Upper front teeth overlap the lower front teeth, can cause pain in the teeth, gums and jaw
- Anterior crossbite: Lower jaw is positioned more forward than the upper jaw, often making it difficult to chew and speak clearly. It can also increase the chances of your teeth becoming damaged more quickly
- Spacing: Gaps between the teeth, which is often a place for food debris to be stuck and cause gum disease
- Open Bite: Vertical distance between the front teeth, making it difficult to chew or bite
- Edge to Edge: Upper and lower front teeth meet the exact edge of the bite, causing unbalanced chewing pressure and leading to long-term risk of teeth being prone to cracking
- Crowding: Teeth that are too crowded and piled up. Difficult to clean properly with a toothbrush, causing tartar to stick and lead to tooth and gum damage

Who will handle my treatment?
OneSmile treatment is provided by OneSmile Partners only who are qualified dentists or orthodontists. They will oversee your treatment progress in person and via Dental Monitoring remote AI monitoring to ensure you achieve your perfect smile.
What is the difference between clear aligner and traditional braces?
Traditional braces: fixed metal or ceramic brackets worn 24/7, clearly visible on the teeth, must be checked by an orthodontist every 4 to 6 weeks for adjustments.
Clear aligners: transparent, barely visible, made of high quality PETG or PU biocompatible plastic). Wear for 22 hours per day for optimal results. Removable so patients can eat easily and maintain good oral hygiene.
Treatment Process
How long is a typical OneSmile Solution treatment?
Treatment times for clear aligner treatment vary depending on the complexity of each case and the desired smile outcome. Your OneSmile Partner doctor (ortho or general dentist) will determine the required treatment length for your individual case.
Can I treat only my top or bottom teeth using the OneSmile Solution?
Absolutely, the OneSmile Solution can treat dual or single arch treatments, depending on your needs.
What happens after my OneSmile treatment is complete?
Protect your investment! Teeth tend to shift back to their original positions so you need to keep them from moving back using our custom-fit retainers. Your first set of OneSmile Retainers are included in your treatment. Retainers should be worn every night and be changed every 6 months. Speak to your OneSmile Partner about OneSmile Retainer options to suit your needs.
Can I drink and eat during my treatment?
OneSmile aligners are removable so you can drink and eat anything you want. It is recommended that you floss and brush your teeth after eating and before re-inserting your OneSmile aligners to maintain good oral hygiene.
Can I view what my expected results will be after treatment is completed?
Yes, after we receive your 3D image, OneSmile creates a custom treatment plan that shows a before-and-after 3D visualization of how your teeth will move with treatment.
What happens if I lose an aligner in the middle of my treatment?
If you lose an aligner you should immediately contact your OneSmile Partner. Depending on where you are in your treatment process, they may advise you to wear your last set of aligners for longer or move on to your next set. If they determine you need a replacement aligner, OneSmile will provide the first set to you free-of-charge. Subsequent replacement aligners will be subject to a replacement surcharge depending on the circumstances.
